American Ethos/Pathos

Beavertron parking lot -- somewhere between Applebee's and Taco Bell. Dad's putting his three year old in the minivan. The little girl still has the high-minded ethics they teach her in preschool. She points to the piece of taco paper litter that's sitting next to their van -- imploring her dad to pick it up. Litter is bad and all. Dad waves it off... "it's not ours honey." It's someone else's trash... not our problem. Not our problem.

Goddamn observer that i am, i sit there lamenting on this sadness. And then five minutes later i realized i didn't pick it up either.
